Life as an intern…

Nothing like walking into the office you intern at on a Monday morning half asleep, coffee in hand and walking up the stairs to see Jason Aldean standing in your way.  He goes “sup?” I said “sup.”  Then I did a double take.  Only in Nashville.

“You don’t have to get a job that makes others feel comfortable about what they perceive as your success. You don’t have to explain what you plan to do with your life. You don’t have to justify your education by demonstrating its financial rewards. You don’t have to maintain an impeccable credit score. Anyone who expects you to do any of those things has no sense of history or economics or science or the arts.

You have to pay your own electric bill. You have to be kind. You have to give it all you got. You have to find people who love you truly and love them back with the same truth.

But that’s all.”

Things That Are Important When Choosing A Mate

This was written on a blog I love and it made me smile.

* Kindess (he’s got it)

* Sense of humor (makes me laugh so hard my stomach hurts)

* Generosity (he’s got a bit of work to do ;)

* Propensity to look good in plaid (he looks GREAT in everything plaid!)

* Interest in reading books (do blogs count?)

* Some nice physical feature that prompts me to say “wow, I hope our kid gets his ______.” (eyes!!!)

* Good manners (must be nice to waiters and the people who take your toll on the bridge) (yes)

* Ability to cook something, even if it’s only one thing  (he makes a mean chicken taco)

* Calmness (the calmest person I know.  I’ve got to work on this)

* Mostly decent taste in music (the best… except the Metallica phase a few years back)

* Good vocabulary (it’s sufficient)

* Driving skills (please note: this has evolved since 1995 when it was simply “car”)

This list is lol.  I’m a lucky girl.

First day at the internship.
Today - consisted in drinking a lot of bottles of water, help carry plaques and guitars to BMI and then going to Jason Aldean’s rooftop #1 party for “Dirt Road Anthem.”  Networking, yummy food and a glass of red wine.  Not a bad first day.

One day I’m going to finish school (May 2012 to be exact), find a rewarding job in the music industry (do those exist?), double my hours and cut my salary in half from my current gig (I’m prepared for that) and it’s going to be amazing.  I think about it every day.  I can’t wait to start my life.

So exhausted but finally made it back to Nashville by 7pm just in time to get prettied up for drinks and an amazing dinner at Flemings with my best friend :)

Locked in our classrooms for about an hour and when the doors opened… They wouldn’t let me inside Starbucks. Of course classes were canceled either.
